My Story

I have been painting sonograms since 2015. The idea came from a desire to make a difference through my art and point my work back to God. My strong pro-life values inspired me to think of a way to boldly declare the truth that life begins at conception. Looking at a sonogram clearly reveals this truth.

From a technical standpoint, in college I became interested in the art style, Fauvism. Fauve artists, like Henri Matisse, explored how bright, vibrant colors could express emotion in their work. I was drawn to the bold colors and liked the imaginative, whimsical feel. In my art classes, I found more creative freedom for my colorful paintings by referencing black-and-white photos. The process of transforming grayscale images into colorful art eventually helped lead to my sonogram art idea.

Painting sonograms in color emphasizes the beauty of life in the womb in a unique, new way. It allows me to express my belief in the value of life starting at conception and take a positive approach on the fight for life. It is truly a gift to be able to participate in celebrating your child’s life through each painting.
